“Waiting for the rains on a sticky summer afternoon? Golu and Molu’s hunt for a bird said to bring them is a cool, green escape.”
Kud kud kud kud. Who is making that strange call?
Is That a KudKud Kumbha? is a nature picture book about two children, a mystery bird call and a legend about the rains.
Golu and Molu are staying with Aji and Ajoba for the summer, up in Dongarwadi in the Sahyadri mountains. Out trekking one morning, they hear a strange call. Could it be the Kudkud Kumbha, the bird said to bring the rains? Or is it only a legend?
Why children love it
- Golu and Molu draw the mystery bird to show their grandparents, with funny results.
- A hushed evening hunt, ending in a rustle behind a wild jasmine bush.
- Lush forest art with hidden creatures to spot, like a squirrel and a yellow bird.
