“Many of these began as bedtime tales from Sudha Murty’s own grandparents, so let a grandparent do the reading. One, about a grandmother learning to read, may move the grown-ups most.”
Three much-loved story collections, bound together in one red gift edition.
The Sudha Murty Children's Treasury is a gift edition that gathers three of her short story collections for children into one volume.
Inside are How I Taught My Grandmother to Read and Other Stories, Grandma's Bag of Stories and The Magic Drum and Other Favourite Stories. The stories draw on her years as a teacher and on her grandparents' bedtime tales.
Why children love it
- In "How I Taught My Grandmother to Read", her grandmother Krishtakka decides to learn to read Kannada.
- Ajji opens her store of tales for four grandchildren visiting her home in Shiggaon.
- One folk tale features a princess who will marry only a man who can stump her with a question.
