“Every home has a cockroach story; Roy goes one better and clocks how fast they run. Funny enough to swap creepy-crawly squeals for curious questions.”
Bitten, stung and pestered: Roy's life with insects starts early.
The Insect Boy is a two-in-one picture book about Roy, a boy whose life has been tangled up with insects since he was a baby.
Creepy crawlies and winged insects have bothered Roy from the very start, with bites, stings and plenty of pestering. As he grows up, insect facts are woven into his story, from bees to cockroaches. And this story can be read in two ways.
What they'll discover
- That a worker bee who uses her stinger will die, something Roy learns at ten.
- How Roy, at thirteen, sets out to measure just how fast cockroaches run.
- A comic-strip page of insect facts, starring a mantis, a mayfly and a cheeky cockroach.
