“A thoughtful Vijayadashami gift, for the day so many little ones trace their first letters in rice. It puts a friendly face to the goddess of learning watching over them.”
Meet the goddess of music, with her veena and her swan.
Saraswati is a die-cut shaped board book that introduces little ones to the Hindu goddess of knowledge, art and wisdom.
The book is cut in the shape of Saraswati's crowned head, with big eyes, golden earrings and a white swan at her side. Inside, simple sentences explain who she is: a patron of music who was once a revered river, and the wife of Lord Brahma.
Why children love it
- Saraswati on a pink lotus, playing her veena among the planets and stars.
- Two heavenly musicians with drums and strings, the pupils she taught to play for the gods.
- Lord Brahma, crowned and bearded, sitting on a lotus right beside her.

Quick answers
What is a veena? A traditional Indian stringed instrument. Saraswati is often pictured playing one, as she is here.
Can little hands manage it? Yes. Thick board pages and a die-cut shape make it easy for small hands to hold and turn.
