“With a mango in the mix, the painted set looks like the fruit cart down your street. Dotting seeds onto the watermelon is the fiddly, satisfying bit.”
Eight fruits, from papaya to pineapple, set in plaster for the fridge.
Mould & Paint Fruit Magnets is a plaster craft STEAM kit where children cast eight fruit shapes, paint them and turn them into fridge magnets.
Children cast the fruit shapes in plaster of Paris using the eight moulds, then paint each one. The box pictures the finished set, including an orange, a bunch of grapes, a watermelon slice and a mango.
What's in the box
- Plaster of Paris powder and eight fruit moulds, for shapes like a pineapple with a spiky crown.
- Tempera colours, a paint brush and a rubberised magnet.
- A paper cup, a plastic knife and an instruction manual.

Quick answers
What is plaster of Paris? A white powder that sets hard when mixed with water. Here it fills the fruit moulds, and the box says it dries fast.
Is there a safety warning? Yes. The back prints a choking hazard warning and says the set is for use under adult supervision, so please read it before starting.
