“Save this for the morning after a World Cup match, when football is all anyone at home can talk about. Amar’s school tournament is pure chaos, and funnier than any highlights reel.”
A school World Cup, and the goalie is called Butterfingers.
Goal, Butterfingers! is a funny school novel about a football-mad boy, his friends and a World Cup played between classes.
Amar is obsessed with football, so he plans a school tournament where each class plays as a different country. Like all his plans, this one runs into trouble. More girls join the school, an English teacher turns hostile, and joining a protest rally brings match bans. With Amar himself in goal, can they still lift the cup?
Why children love it
- The cover catches Butter mid-dive, huge yellow gloves stretched out for the ball.
- Amusing antics as the football-crazy gang also tries to turn detective.
- Hare-brained schemes and school-day pranks that keep the laughs coming.
